The VerraGlo Peroxide Number* Color Test for petrochemicals & renewable diesel can determined the Peroxide Number (mg/Kg) with only 3 drops of fuel, and comparison to a standard color chart (see image), or using a reflectance colorimeter. The color difference between PN 0.75 and 1.5 is easily discernible with a colorimeter (see lower plot).

An alternate format of this test can be used to measure the Peroxide Value in edible oils (milliequivlants/Kg).

Advantage of the VerraGlo™ Peroxide Number Color Test Over Other PN Methods:

• Can be conducted in the field with 3 drops of fuel (ca. 150 uL) with results in about 15 min.

• Does not use or generate toxic solvents that are expensive to purchase, must be used under a laboratory fume-hood, and that have to be disposed of as hazardous waste

• The method uses no laboratory glassware, no solvents and no cleanup;  the sample vial is disposable

• Has excellent sensitivity, precision and readability in the low PN range (Limit of Quantification of 0.75 mg/Kg), and can be used by untrained personnel
